Are you interested in helping out the Children’s Ministry? Here’s 9 ways how you can lend a hand. 1. Be a Teacher Do you love God, love children, and love to serve? Then this is where you are called to be. As a Children’s Sunday School teacher, you impact learning and faith all in one. 2. Be a Shepherd As a shepherd, you work with the children and move them from activity to activity. Your job is to relate to the children and become a second pair of hands for their teacher. There’s no planning involved. You follow the lead of the teacher. 3. Be a Greeter If planning lessons is not your thing, you can always volunteer to be a greeter. This person becomes a familiar face, greeting each child as he or she enters the room. A greeter can take attendance, count the offering, and send out birthday … Read More

A Carver Elementary School teacher recently asked if our church is still saving box tops for their school. The answer to that question is YES but here’s a reminder about the program. Box tops can be found on a variety of products — cereal boxes, Ziploc boxes, Kleenex, etc. A complete listing of products can be found at www.boxtops4education.com. Each label is worth 10 cents. Twice a year, Carver turns in these labels and receives a check so with just a little effort, the school receives free money. This money is used to buy student incentives and rewards. Please help us help Carver. There are collection baskets at each greeters’ desk at church. If possible, please tape them onto a sheet of paper — ten to a sheet. Reminder — you need to cut out the box top that has a dotted line around it. Thank you for supporting our … Read More

JOY Group Around the World Eats Lunch Bunch Series As our adventure continues, our palates are ready for more! The second stop on the Around the World Eats tour took us to the Queen of Sheba for Ethiopian cuisine. Tucked away in a business area of Addison, this gem was worth the drive. Meeka, our waitress, greeted us at the door and was ready to get us served. After getting our drinks, large platters lined with injera (bread) were filled with chicken, beef, lamb (of which had a nice kick), spinach, yogurt, cabbage, potatoes, carrots, and lentils. It was all delicious and filling, but some had room for a sweet treat. The Queen’s Dome and Lemon Cake were simply melt-in-your-mouth scrumptious. If you like to try new places, we recommend this one! The Great Debate 2018 The Queen’s Dome dessert at the Queen of Sheba. Elaine says it can feed … Read More
Life Groups Starting in September 2018 Our Life Groups are starting back the week of September 9, 2018. What is a Life Group you may ask? Let’s start by what a Life Group is not. Life Groups are not a substitute for Sunday School. Life Groups are also not a Bible Study, although we do refer to scripture. Life Groups are small groups of 8-14 adults that get together during the week and discuss the previous week’s sermon. The Fall Life Group session runs from the week of September 9, 2018, through the week of November 11, 2018. There is generally food, beverages, prayer, and great conversation. If you’re interested in joining a Life Group, please contact Kevin Banks at [email protected]
