It’s that time of the year… back to school time! Some students have already started, some students began this week and others will start after Labor Day. In the uncertainty of what this school year brings, we know that God is with us, to help us, to guide us, to give us strength, to give us wisdom, to give us courage, and to give us peace. We celebrated our Back to School blessings with a special time of prayer for each student that came to join us. Ben, Emma, Sam, and Emily, some of our 2021 Seniors greeted the kids and chatted with them about the new school year. They offered a prayer over each student with whom they spoke. Jeff and I were blessed as we met the families and were able to lift them up in prayer also.
Each student was given a special backpack tag to carry with them this year. Each symbol on the tag represents a blessing that was prayed over for every student. Individual prayer stones were designed specifically to match the symbols on the backpack tag. Each symbol is tied to a particular Bible verse encouraging them to connect with God every day. The prayer stones may also be used as a way for the student to gather their thoughts and express what is on their heart.
At the end of our prayer time together, all enjoyed the blessing of a popsicle treat on a hot day! We pray,
The LORD will bless you and protect you. The LORD will make his face shine on you and be gracious to you. The LORD will lift up his face to you and grant you peace in this new school year. Amen.
Over 90 Back to School blessings have been received by Wesley families and
guests in the community. If you would like to receive a Back to School blessing backpack tag along with a set of special prayer stones, please contact Mrs. Leslie ([email protected]) and she will make sure that you get one. We are praying that you have a wonderful school year!
