Wesley United Methodist Church Initiates Two New Missions: July 2019

Wesley CARes

It’s CARing from your Car. The Wesley CARes project is a mission of the JOY (just older youth) Group. They collected supplies and monetary donations from members and the community to fill blessing bags.

At a family packing party recently, folks of all ages pitched in to fill the bags. Socks, toiletries, wipes, snacks, bottled water, and blankets were packed into 250 bags for distribution in the local Greenville area and the DFW metro. Church members and guests are encouraged to keep a bag or two in their vehicles to share when they encounter someone in need.

VBS and FISH Ministries

Wesley’s youngest members and their Vacation Bible School guests kicked off an awesome mission project: to fill the FISH Ministries shelves with cereal for back to school. During their 4-day To Mars and Beyond adventure of Bible stories, crafts, recreation, and music, the children donated 328 boxes of breakfast cereal. It was a competition effort and FISH won!

With this outreach came a valuable lesson: you are never too young to help those in need. VBS Director Leslie Dick will continue to collect cereal at the church until Sunday, August 4.

Community outreach is the foundation of Wesley UMC local missions that are performed year ‘round by Sunday School classes, children and youth, and various church organizations.
