Meet the Member!
Church Lay Leader
As a long time member at Wesley, I’ve held different positions throughout the years. I am currently the Church Lay Leader where I am an active member of the Administrative Board and placed on the Finance and Staff Parish Relations Committees. I think it is important for the church committees to be composed of various ages and balanced with representation of men and women. I guess I now serve as one of the more “seasoned” members. I serve because being a disciple of Christ brings purpose and meaning to my life. Our family has been richly blessed by the opportunities for worship, spiritual growth, and service at Wesley UMC.
I’ve been a lifelong Methodist. My parents were always involved in our home church and set a great example for me. John and I joined Wesley shortly after moving to Greenville. We were still newlyweds. John and I celebrated our 43rd wedding anniversary in June. Seems like yesterday. We have two daughters, Lisa and Mary. Lisa and husband Alan live in Dallas and are the parents of two of our grandsons. Mary and her husband John live in Rockwall and are the parents of our youngest grandson and only granddaughter. FUN FACT, our daughter Lisa met Alan at Bridgeport during summer camp.
During the years of raising a family I was a stay at home mom. In the year 2000, Wesley added a staff position for a Director of Older Adult Ministries and I was hired for that position. I loved being in ministry with Wesley’s senior adults and served for almost ten years. I retired from the position to have more time to help with grandchildren and our aging parents.
Thank you for letting me serve as Wesley’s Church Lay Leader.
